Are you interested in getting your Ohio Concealed Handgun License (CHL), also known as a concealed carry permit or CCW?
Ohio CCW Class
The CCW course is 8Hr. (6hr. classroom and 2hrs. on the range)

Students must register and pay in advance of class to guarantee a position is available.
CCW classes are held at our Indoor Shooting Range and Training Center in Springfield, OH.
Age: 18yrs & older
(may take class 3 years prior to 21yrs old, but cannot apply for license until 21yrs old)
Duration: 8 hrs
(per Ohio law this class is 6hrs of classroom & 2hrs on the range)

Class 1
We will train you in safety rules, choosing a weapon, holster and ammunition.
Then we will teach you to safely draw from holster, point and shoot, defensive double tap.
Class 2
In this class you will review class 1 and build on the skills learned with , off hand and strong hand shooting because you never know where the attacker will be coming from.
This class will put you on track to develop your muscle memory so that these skills become automatic and repeatable.
First and Third Tuesday from 5:30pm until 8:00pm
$15.00 for NON-Members, $10.00 for Members
REQUIREMENTS:
- MUST have gone through and passed First Time Shooters, Intermediate and Intermediate 2 (Holster) Class to attend
COURSE INSTRUCTION:

Each week is a DIFFERENT Class
Defensive Handgun Fundamentals Class 1
This course is for beginner from target shooting to the first level of using a firearm for self defense.
Topics to be covered
- Proper defensive stance
- Proper defensive grip
- Flash sight picture (point and shoot)
- trigger pull (smooth press)
- Recoil control
Combat Handgun Class 2
This course moves the student in the realm of self-defense (combat) shooting.
Students MUST have some defensive shooting skills to take this class.
Topics to be covered
- Drawing from holster
- Weak hand shooting
- Close quarters shooting (Under 3 Ft.)
- Different shooting positions
- Multiple targets
Advanced Combat Handgun Class 3
This course moves the student to the highest levels of defensive shooting.
Student MUST have completed Combat Handgun or Private Security Firearms to enter this class.
Topics to be covered
- Shooting while moving
- Shooting in low light
- Combat reloading
- Target discrimination (Good guy vs. bad guy)
- Correcting stoppages
- Weapon retention
OPOTA 20 Hr. certification class & yearly Requailification class
You will need to provide:
Duty Firearm
Holster
Belt
magazine pouch
2 Total magazines
200 rounds of ammo
Eye/Ear Protection
This class fulfills all requirements to obtain your OPOTC Private Security Firearms Certificate. Which will allow you to work for a private security company as an armed security guard.
As mandated by Ohio law, students successfully passing the class, will be able to demonstrate the following:
* Proficiently name, verbalize and demonstrate the rules for safe handling of a handgun & proper storage practices of both handguns & ammunition
* Demonstrate and explain how to handle ammunition in a safe manner
* Demonstrate the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to shoot a handgun in a safe manner
* Proper handling of firearms, range safety and how to properly load & unload a handgun
* Basic marksmanship
Instruction is provided by an Ohio Police Officers Training Commission (OPOTC) Certified Instructor with years of practical experience in carrying a firearm & in law enforcement.
